June 6, 2026

Jonas Jacobs wins IRPA Young Scientist Award at the 7th European IRPA Congress

At the 7th European IRPA Congress held in Liverpool (1–5 June 2026), Jonas Jacobs was awarded the IRPA Young Scientist Award for his presentation on “Analyses of radiological data acquired with UAVs at a nuclear site”. Jonas represented Belgium as the official BVS-ABR nominee in the fifth edition of the national Young Scientist Award competition.

The award recognises outstanding scientific contributions by early-career professionals in the field of radiation protection. Jonas’ work, which combines UAV-based radiological measurements with advanced data analysis at a nuclear site, impressed both the national selection committee and the international IRPA jury.

As part of his award, Jonas will present his research at a BVS-ABR scientific meeting later in 2026. More information on the Young Scientist Award and the national selection process can be found here.

Congratulations, Jonas!
